WHO IS ALEX MOSELEY? Alex Moseley believes that a strong family, a strong church, and the opportunity to obtain a strong education are the keys to success in life. His conservative principles were cemented as a child when, as the second of seven children, he learned the importance of not splurging on things you cannot afford. After graduating from high school, Alex went into restaurant management where he applied those conservative principles to maintaining successful locations and to troubleshooting other locations that failed to make the grade. From there Alex Moseley went into residential construction where he spent three years working for a contractor building custom homes. Feeling the call to do something more, Alex Moseley enlisted in the United States Army in 1998 and soon found himself serving in the 1st Cavalry Division in the Balkans during Clinton’s war in 1999. After returning from the Balkans, Alex spent another year with the “Cav” in Fort Hood, TX before being ordered to Korea. He arrived in Korea in late 2000 and stayed there serving in the 2nd Infantry Division until February of 2002. Upon returning to the states, Alex Moseley joined the Tennessee National Guard’s 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment where he served while attending the University of Tennessee. Alex Moseley married his wife Jeneva, a schoolteacher, in July of 2003. In 2004 the 278th was activated for action in Iraq. The unit was sent to Mississippi to undergo pre-deployment training during which time Alex and Jeneva became parents. Alex rushed home in the wake of Hurricane Ivan to be at his wife’s side when she gave birth to their daughter before returning to training three days later. One day prior to boarding a plane to Iraq, Alex Moseley was notified that he was to stay behind and undergo surgery but would be able to catch up with his unit at a later date. The resulting surgery did not result in a return to duty and he was released in subsequent months. Alex Moseley then obtained a license in real estate and continued to work his way through school. Alex worked as an intern through the University of Tennessee in the offices of Senator Randy McNally of Oak Ridge and Senator Tim Burchett of Knoxville in the spring of 2007. It was during this time that he saw first hand the lack of leadership being offered by Representative Jim Hackworth and as a resident of Oak Ridge decided it is time to act. |
